About the Role

First-Gen Student Success Interns help create a welcoming community for first-gen students by developing and hosting programs and events, staffing our shared student lounge, and serving as a support and resource for others.

This role is open to all undergraduate students at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. To give as many students as possible an opportunity to serve as interns, the position is currently a 1-year appointment.

Time Commitment

Interns are expected to work approximately 10-12 hours per week. Work hours typically take place Monday through Friday between 9am to 5pm, with some exceptions for special events.

Lead Intern

Students who have previously served as interns are invited to apply to be Lead Intern after their initial appointment has ended. Drawing on previous experience, the Lead Intern steps into an elevated role as a mentor and representative of the Center.
